JOHANNESBURG, Tuesday 24 March 2026 — The Democratic Alliance has announced candidates nominated for key leadership positions ahead of its elective Federal Congress scheduled for April.
The party said delegates would vote for national leadership positions, including federal leader, federal chairperson and deputy federal chairpersons.
According to the DA, nominations opened on 27 February and closed on 23 March. The party said the nominated candidates had been vetted for compliance with its internal rules.
The candidates announced for federal leader were Sibusiso Dyonase and Geordin Hill-Lewis. The candidates for federal chairperson were Ivan Meyer and Solly Msimanga.
The party also named candidates for three deputy federal chairperson positions, including Cilliers Brink, Belinda Echeozonjoku, Siviwe Gwarube, Solly Malatsi, Anroux Marais, Nomafrench Mbombo and Nicholas Nyati.
The congress comes as the DA prepares for the 2026 local government elections, where it is expected to campaign on municipal governance, service delivery and control of key metros and councils.
The leadership election will determine the party’s senior office bearers heading into the municipal campaign period.
