Responsible, independent political coverage
Mzansi Political Safari is committed to accurate, transparent and independent political reporting, discussion and explanation.
This policy sets out the standards applied to content published across the website and podcast, including reporting, analysis, explainers, interviews and opinion.
Its purpose is to provide readers, listeners, guests and contributors with a clear understanding of how editorial content is produced and presented.

01 · Independence
Editorial Independence
Mzansi Political Safari operates independently and is not affiliated with any political party, political movement or government institution.
Editorial decisions are made independently of political organisations and external interests. The platform retains editorial control over articles, podcast episodes, interviews, explainers and other published material.
Political access, interviews or participation by public figures do not determine how those individuals or organisations are subsequently covered.

Types of editorial content
Content may fall into one or more of the following categories. Where the distinction is relevant, the nature of the content should be clear to the audience.

Reporting
Factual coverage of political events, public statements, government decisions, elections and other developments.
B
Analysis
Contextual examination of political issues, decisions and trends based on available evidence, public information and relevant sources.
C
Opinion
Clearly identified viewpoints expressed by contributors, guests or commentators. Such views do not automatically represent the position of the platform.
D
Explainers
Accessible educational material intended to clarify political institutions, processes, policies, terminology and public issues.
03 · Reporting Standards
Accuracy, sourcing and attribution
Accuracy
Mzansi Political Safari aims to ensure factual information is accurate at the time of publication and presented in the appropriate context.
Attribution
Claims made by political parties, public officials, government departments and other interested parties are attributed to their source rather than presented as established fact.
Context
Relevant background and context should be included where necessary to avoid misleading readers or listeners through omission.
04 · Corrections
Accuracy and Corrections
If a material factual error is identified, reasonable steps will be taken to correct the published content.
Corrections may be made within the original article or episode information, or noted separately where appropriate. The nature of the correction will depend on the significance of the error and the format of the content.

05 · Interviews & Contributors
Guests, contributors and interviews
Podcast guests, interview subjects and contributors may express their own perspectives, expertise and political views.
The publication or broadcast of those views does not constitute endorsement by Mzansi Political Safari.
The inclusion of a political figure, commentator or organisation does not imply agreement with that person’s or organisation’s policies, conduct or political position.
06 · Fairness
Fairness and impartiality
Political coverage should describe competing positions accurately without adopting the framing of any party or political actor as the publication’s own.
Where allegations, criticism or contested claims are material to a story, relevant responses and available evidence should be reflected where appropriate.
Fairness does not require unsupported claims to be given equal weight to established facts or credible evidence.
07 · Conflicts
Conflicts of Interest
Relevant conflicts of interest that could reasonably affect the audience’s understanding of published content should be disclosed where appropriate.
Mzansi Political Safari does not publish editorial content in exchange for political endorsement.
08 · Updates
Content Updates
Political events and public information can change after publication. Existing material may therefore be updated when new information becomes available or when additional context is required.
Updates that materially alter the substance of a published report should be handled transparently where appropriate.
