Our main focus is South African politics and public affairs. Coverage may include Parliament, the Presidency and Cabinet, political parties, provincial government, municipalities, councils, elections, candidates, public representatives, governance and other developments with a political or civic impact.
Do you cover local government and municipal politics?
Yes. Local government is an important part of our coverage, including municipal councils, coalitions, political appointments, motions, by-elections, candidate developments and issues affecting the administration of municipalities.
How do you decide what is newsworthy?
Editorial decisions may take into account public interest, political significance, the people or institutions affected, timeliness, proximity, available evidence and relevance to our readership. Not every statement, event or submission can be covered.
Does Mzansi Political Safari support a political party?
News coverage is produced under editorial standards that require political claims to be attributed and parties and public figures to be treated consistently. Current operating funding is supplied by the owner rather than by a political party, candidate or government department. Does every political party receive the same amount of coverage?
Not necessarily. Editorial fairness does not require identical amounts of coverage for every party or candidate. Coverage depends on newsworthiness, relevance, public interest, electoral activity and the developments taking place at the time. The same editorial standards should nevertheless be applied when assessing competing political actors.
Can political parties and government departments send you media releases?
Yes. Media releases, statements, notices, invitations and responses may be sent to news@politicalsafari.co.za. Receipt does not guarantee publication, and press-release wording may be independently rewritten, contextualised or verified before use.
Can I suggest a story or send a tip-off?
Yes. Readers, public representatives, officials and other sources may send credible news leads, documents or information to the newsroom. Our Tip-offs page explains what information is useful and the limits that apply to confidentiality and sensitive material.
Can I give you information anonymously?
You may ask not to be named, but anonymity is considered on a case-by-case basis. Sending information by ordinary email does not automatically establish a confidential-source relationship. If protecting your identity is essential, raise this before sending highly sensitive material.
Do you conduct investigative journalism?
Mzansi Political Safari does not currently operate a dedicated investigative journalism desk or specialist secure-drop system. We may follow up news leads, verify documents, seek comment and develop stories from information supplied to us, but we do not presently describe the publication as operating a dedicated investigative unit.
What happens if an article contains an error?
Readers can report possible factual errors to the newsroom. We assess correction requests against the published material and available evidence. Where a material error is confirmed, the article may be corrected, clarified or updated in line with our Corrections & Complaints Policy.
How do I request a right of reply or respond to an article?

Do you publish opinion pieces?
Where opinion, commentary or analysis is published, it should be clearly distinguished from straight news reporting. Views expressed in attributed opinion or commentary do not automatically represent the editorial position of Mzansi Political Safari.
Do you use artificial intelligence?
Technology, including artificial intelligence tools, may assist parts of the research, drafting, editing, transcription, categorisation, SEO or production workflow. Can businesses or organisations advertise on the site?
