ActionSA outlines local election strategy after Senate meeting

ActionSA local elections

JOHANNESBURG, Saturday 28 March 2026 — ActionSA said it had concluded a three-day Senate strategic planning meeting as it prepares for the 2026 local government elections.

The party said the meeting brought together leaders from across the country to discuss its campaign approach and local government priorities.

According to ActionSA, the discussions focused on municipal service delivery, deteriorating infrastructure, crime, unemployment and the rising cost of living.

The party said it planned to run a ground-level campaign focused on community issues and municipal accountability.

ActionSA is expected to contest the elections in several municipalities where coalition politics and service delivery concerns are likely to shape voter decisions.

The party was founded by Herman Mashaba and has positioned itself around governance, anti-corruption messaging and local service delivery.

The 2026 local government elections will be the first municipal polls after the 2024 national election, which produced a changed national political landscape and increased attention on coalition arrangements.

ActionSA said further campaign announcements would follow as the election period approaches.
