DA election campaign

JOHANNESBURG, Wednesday 1 April 2026 — The Electoral Commission has unveiled the identity and tagline for the 2026/27 Local Government Elections as preparations continue for the municipal polls.

The IEC said the election branding would be used across official material and platforms ahead of the vote.

The tagline, “Get Up. Show Up. Vote”, was introduced as part of the commission’s voter education and mobilisation campaign.

IEC chairperson Mosotho Moepya said the identity was intended to support voter participation and strengthen public engagement with the electoral process.

The commission also said the next major milestones included the launch of the national campaign and the first voter registration weekend.

The elections will determine municipal councils across the country, including ward councillors and proportional representation councillors.

Voters have been encouraged to check their registration details, update residential addresses where needed, and ensure they are registered in the correct voting district.

The IEC said it would continue working with political parties, government agencies and civil society organisations during preparations for the elections.
