EFF local elections

JOHANNESBURG, Sunday 5 April 2026 — The Economic Freedom Fighters has released campaign material ahead of the 2026 local government elections, setting out its organisational approach for the municipal vote.

The party’s election manual calls on members and supporters to intensify voter registration, strengthen organisational structures and prepare for the campaign period.

The EFF has also said that voter registration, community engagement and local service delivery issues would form part of its campaign work.

The party’s preparations come as political organisations across the country move toward candidate selection and voter mobilisation.

Local government elections are expected to be closely watched because they will test party strength at ward and municipal level after the 2024 national election.

The EFF has previously campaigned on land, economic policy, public services and local government accountability.

The party said its election structures would coordinate campaign work ahead of the polls.

Further details on candidates and municipal campaign activity are expected as the election timetable progresses.
